Life Sketch
Hyrum Smith Turley and his twin brother, Joseph Smith Turley, were the sons of Theodore Turley and Sarah Ellen Clift. They were born 5 December 1846 at Winter Quarters (now Omaha), Douglas County, Nebraska.4

Hyrum’s twin brother, Joseph Smith Turley, only lived three months. Hyrum last a month and a half longer, passing away on 29 April 1847 from croup. He was buried in the same grave as his deceased brother at the Winter Quarters Cemetery.5

Note: Hyrum’s name on the Winter Quarters memorial is misstated as “Hyrum O. Turley.” This was likely a misreading of the middle initial in the sexton record.
