Benjamin Franklin Parsons was born 12 May 1827 in Norfolk, Virginia.7 He died 27 September 1896 in San Diego, San Diego County, California.8
COLTON, Nov. 25—(Staff correspondence of THE SUN.)—Another one of the early California pioneers crossed over the river of death at about half past the hour of five this morning, in the person of Thomas Wilson McIntosh.
Mr. McIntosh was born in Boone county, Kentucky, 74 years ago last April. When a child of 8 years he moved with his parents to Missouri, where he lived until a young man of 21, when he came overland to Northern California with a party driving cattle.
In the early seventies he lived for some time at Phoenix, Arizona, where he was a United States Marshal for eight years. He was also a deputy Sheriff of San Bernardino county for four years.
Mr. McIntosh was one of the first merchants in Colton, having a store here before the advent of the railroads, and also interested in mining. He was twice married, the second wife being Mrs. Parsons, whom he married in Riverside in 1879. The wife and five children survive him. The children are: Miss Viola and Clarence McIntosh of Colton; Lee McIntosh of Goldfield, Nevada; Frank McIntosh of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Charles Rouse of Riverside.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 o’clock from Swartz’ undertaking parlors, Rev. J. A. Sampson conducting the service.
Mr. McIntosh was a member of the Pioneer society and the first Noble Grand of the Colton order of Odd Fellows.

DEATH OF MRS. FRANCES McINTOSH
After a lingering illness, Mrs. France Cumberlain [Kimberley] McIntosh passed away around 3 o’clock this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Charles Rouse, in Riverside, with whom she had been residing since leaving Colton some three months ago. Up to that time she had made her home in this city with an unmarried son, C. C. McIntosh.
Mrs. McIntosh, who may be called a pioneer of the valley, although she was but 64 years old was born in the year 1850 under the most unique circumstances. Her parents, who had crossed over from England lured by the call of the “Golden West” and the then unknown California, were traveling overland by an immigrant ox-train from New York, and it was while they were crossing the great western plains that she first saw the light of day. The family came direct to San Bernardino and settled and it was there at the age of 15 that she became the bride of a Mr. Parsons, four children blessing their union. Later on she married again, this time to T. W. McIntosh of Riverside. To them five children were born, making in all a family of nine sons and daughters, all of whom live to bless their mother’s name and who will be in attendance at the last sad rites said for her. The surviving members are T. G. Parsons of Santa Barbara, Frank Parsons of San Diego, C. C. McIntosh of Colton, L. J. McIntosh of Tonopah, Nevada, Frank McIntosh of Los Angeles, Mrs. J. C. Button of Colton, Mrs. Charles Rouse and Mrs. F. A. Button of Riverside, and Mrs. M. W. Myers of San Diego.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, at 2 o’clock here in Colton from the Knopsnyder chapel and interment will be in Hermosa cemetery.

- There is conflicting information about Nettie’s birthdate. FindaGrave.com has both 4 August and 12 August. According to the San Diego death records index, Nettie’s 13 August 1871 death is recorded in volume A-1 p. 17. I’ve been unable to locate an online copy of that volume. Nettie’s burial was found in records from the Mission San Diego. “August 13th, 1871, I have given ecclesiastical burial to NETTIE, recently born, baptized privately by Dona Felipa Marron, daughter of Benjamin Parsons and of Frances Tally, Protestants.
